SimMate runs on your own PC. Your laps, setups and settings are kept in
Documents\Assetto Corsa Competizione\SimMate data and stay there. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you
switch it on.
What you can choose to share
SimMate asks once, after the first-run tour. The same five switches are in Settings, under Sharing with the developer. Every one starts off. Each one sends only what is listed here.
| App health | App version, Windows version, Python version and language; screen and window size; error messages from the app (folder paths are cut out before anything is queued); how often the page was slow, kept apart for while you were driving. |
|---|---|
| How the app is used | How many times each tab and each pop-up was opened, and whether the first-run tour was finished or skipped (and at which screen). |
| What you drive | For each session you drove yourself: date, track, car, session type, every lap time, the theoretical best, air and track temperature, grip, rain, TC/ABS settings, and how many spins and snaps there were. |
| Whether the advice worked | For each of those sessions: which coaching points each corner got (as codes and severity, not text). And each setup recommendation you wrote into a setup file: the car, track, the setting and the new value. |
| Your fastest laps | The full recording of the fastest lap in each session, as recorded by SimMate (about 2 MB each, at most 10 MB, five at a time). |
What is never sent
- Your name or the name you put on exported sessions
- Your Steam account or anything else that identifies you
- Folder paths on your PC, or your Windows user name
- Anything from sessions a friend sent you
How it is sent and kept
Your PC is known only by a random id SimMate makes when it is installed. Items wait in a queue on your PC
(share_queue.jsonl in the data folder) and go out together when a game session ends, and once shortly after SimMate starts. In Settings,
See what will be sent shows that queue exactly as it will be sent.
They go over HTTPS to a service the developer runs on Cloudflare, and are kept in a Cloudflare database (D1) and file store (R2). The service does not record IP addresses and its request logs are switched off.
The data is used to fix bugs, decide which tracks to finish first, make the coaching more accurate, and build reference laps and track maps that ship with SimMate. Anything published from it carries no id and cannot be traced back to one PC. It is not sold or given to anyone else.
Changing your mind, and deleting
- Switching a tier off stops it at once, and whatever of it was still waiting is dropped from the queue.
- Delete what was sent in Settings deletes everything stored under your PC's id, turns every switch off and gives your PC a new id.
- If that button could not reach the service, it shows an 8-character id. Send it to the developer and the data will be deleted by hand: open an issue at github.com/PHUICMT/SimMate/issues with that id. The id alone does not say who you are, so it is safe to post.
Who is responsible
SimMate is made by PHUICMT, an individual developer in Thailand. If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything new to share gets a new switch that starts off.
